Importance of Voting

As U.S. citizens, we should participate in our political system by voting for public officials on local, state, and national levels. This helps you have a say in who represents you and ensures that your voice will be heard when issues are being discussed—like at election time! It also shows candidates that they need to listen to you if they want your vote! 

Same Day Voter Registration

Same-day registration is not available in Arkansas.  See the deadlines below.

Can I register to vote before I am 18?

You can pre-register to vote in Arkansas if you will turn 18 before the next election.

Where May I Obtain a Voter Registration Application?

  • You can obtain an application from your County Clerk's office.  Click here to download contact information for County Clerks.
  • You can call the Arkansas Secretary of State Elections Division at 1-800-482-1127.
  • Visit your local Revenue Office or DMV.
  • You can visit your local library.
  • Visit your local disability agency.
  • All military recruitment office will have an application.
  • Complete the online request form and an application will be mailed to you via USPS.

How will I know if I'm registered?

Once your local county clerk has processed your Voter Registration Application, they will send you a personalized voter registration card. This could take up to several weeks.  Never assume you are registered to vote until you have received your voter registration card from the county clerk.  Feel free to call your county clerk and inquire about the status of your application.  You may also check your voter registration status online by visiting www.voterview.org

Deadline for Submission of Application

  • In Person: Your application must be submitted by the close of business the Friday BEFORE the election.
  • By Designated Bearer or Administrator: Your Designated Bearer or Administrator my submit your application by the close of business the Friday BEFORE the election. (Designated Bearer is anyone you choose to pick up and/or deliver your application or ballot).
  • By Mail or by Electronic Means: Your application must be submitted at least 7 days before the election.
  • By Authorized Agent: Your application must be submitted by 1:30 p.m. ON election day.
    • The authorized agent must file with the County Clerk an affidavit from the administrative head of a hospital or nursing home located in this state verifying that the applicant is a patient of the hospital or long-term care, or residential care facility licensed by the state and is thereby unable to vote on the election day at his or her regular polling site.
